Martial Arts lessons for Adults and Children

“An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” Benjamin Franklin

Dear Parents,

Are you ready to invest in character development and personal growth for your child?

Before you answer that, I want to share with you one of my all time favorite quotes. It’s from John Maxwell, one of the world’s leading experts on leadership development and one of the resources in our leadership course curriculum:

“We live in a time of instant gratification. If we want to read a book or listen to music, we download it in a matter of minutes. If we’re hungry, we order food and it arrives at our door. If we want to see a movie we get it on demand for our home theatre, and we microwave popcorn to eat while we watch it. Unfortunately, we expect the same kind of speed when it comes to personal growth. We want it to be just as quick and easy. It will never happen.”

“If you want to become a leader you have to give up the microwave mentality. Forget speed and become like a Crock-Pot. Personal growth takes time. It takes seasoning. And it requires heat. It’s slow, but like something cooked in a Crock–Pot, it’s worth waiting for.”
“You cannot become a great leader overnight, but you can become a better leader day by day.”

How often have you said: “If I only knew then what I know now”? Now you can provide your child with personal growth and leadership tools that you never had growing up!

At Martial Arts America we begin by teaching children to be good students, good listeners and to be motivated self-starters. Then, we offer students who qualify the possibility to move up into our leadership course.

Now, I want you to imagine your child learning the kind of code of ethics taught in elite schools like the Naval Academy in Annapolis, or in West Point. The leadership course that we put together is as close as you can get to that while teaching kids.

Like the Naval Academy or BUDS, our leadership course is not for everyone. Students have to qualify before they are accepted. And like the Naval Academy or BUDS, our leadership course will teach qualified students to be confident and assertive in the face of tough decisions.

Here is something Annette Winn, who has her son and her daughter in our leadership course, wrote to me:

“It's a great program for both of my kids. Each child is benefiting in a different way. Bridget is learning leadership skills and the ability to physically push herself beyond where she is comfortable. Charlie is learning self-control and it is helping him to have better self-esteem.”

It takes a lot of dedication to learn leadership and it takes even more to raise and cultivate young leaders.

Some people may ask, “What tough decisions does a kid in Coronado have to make?” Well, imagine your daughter is going to a party with friends, and she finds out that the older brother of a friend is going to drive them to the party; now imagine that the older brother has been drinking. She will have to stand up and say no.

She will have to make a very tough decision and take a stand that is sure to be unpopular. Even though it will be the right decision, maybe even a life saving decision, it will not be the popular decision.

I have worked with hundreds and hundreds of kids and I know that given the right tools they would make the right choice every time. How do I know? I have seen them go through the course and transform from just plain old kids to the type of people that are not afraid to look at a given situation, redirect and be a leader.

Our leadership course is all about character development: Taking a kid that has it all, that is privileged, and teaching him to make the right choices, teaching him about a code of ethics, about dealing honestly and inter-dependently with others. It’s about not hanging around with kids who have been drinking or take drugs. Wouldn’t you agree that this is what all parents want for our children?

The truth is that this stuff is literally worth tens of thousands of dollars if you can even find it in a single course format that is appropriate for kids.

This course is an asset for the child who will be class president, team captain, and community leader and future CEO. At the same time not everyone has to be CEO and these tools are great for building the confidence kids need in order to be assertive, to communicate well, and make the right choices every day.

I want to invite you to come and see me so you may learn if Martial Arts America Leadership Course is right for your family.
